Missy (West Knox)

Missy has been a Knoxvillian her whole life, and now shares her home with her husband and her cat Patches, who is 22 years old and Missy’s “BFF”!  Patches was born behind Missy’s home as a feral kitty, but after some time Missy was finally able to win her trust, and the rest is history.  Patches is deaf now, but still enjoys laying in the sun – the hotter, the better!

Following a successful career in government service, Missy turned to a calling in her life to care for pets, which has always been one of her passions.  She has been a longtime pet sitter for many of her friends and neighbors, and recently completed fostering and socializing a dog for a local service dog agency.

When Missy is not walking dogs or cuddling kitties, she enjoys hiking, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.  She also has a habit of saving turtles that she sees crossing the road.  So far she is up to 3 saved this year, and counting.  Missy says, “I know it is crazy, but I love all animals!”

Kim S (Farragut, East Loudon Co., Karns)

Kim grew up in a rural area of Hardin Valley, in a family that had a full house of every kind of pet imaginable- horses, ducks, peacocks, dogs, cats, goats, a llama, and even a raccoon!  Now married, and living with her husband and daughter Sophia, they have their own family of canines, felines, and a rabbit that they share their lives with.

Braden, a 9 year old red Doberman was Kim’s first “baby” before having her daughter, and Lucy, a rescued pit bull mix, soon after joined the family as well.  They also have 2 cats, Getty and Russia, both strays that Kim’s daughter insisted on them keeping.  Kim’s favorite phrase growing up was “Can we keep him?” and she’s definitely passed that on to her daughter.  And don’t forget, Bunny, the dwarf rabbit, who has the special trick of sitting up on his back legs and begging for Triscuits!

When not walking dogs or cuddling with cats, Kim is working on a second bachelor’s degree in interior design.  According to her, the first degree she has in painting “wasn’t really the best career choice!”  Being a mom, student, and pet sitter, Kim doesn’t have a lot of free time, but she does love swimming and canoeing.  Basically if it involves playing in the water or being outside, she is there!

Mariah (North Knox, Downtown, South Knox)

Mariah is originally from Utah, but has now called Tennessee home for over 10 years.  She shares her life with her husband and two beautiful daughters, as well as Bosco, their 3 year old Boxer.  Bosco loves to scare the mailman, but really he is a rambunctious, loveable, sweet boy!  Mariah says he has been a “wonderful part of the family.”  Their beloved Miniature Pincher, Xavier, who was Mariah’s first “baby” before her daughters, recently passed away, so they are very happy to still have Bosco to share their lives with them.

After moving to Tennessee, one of Mariah’s first jobs was working at a local veterinarian’s office, performing most vet tech duties.  So nothing about pet first aid scares Mariah, and she is happy to help!  Now when she is not caring for canines or kitties, she is a stay at home mom to her two girls.  Caring for animals has always been a passion of Mariah’s, so she really enjoys pet sitting, but she also enjoys hanging out with friends and family when she has a little free time.

Ann (Farragut, West Knox)

Ann is originally from Arizona where she owned her own successful pet sitting business for many years in which she managed her own team of pet sitters.  She has had training in canine massage and is comfortable giving injections to special needs pets. Now living in Knoxville, she enjoys spending time with her extended family, and putting her multitude of experiences with pets to great use as a caring pet sitter.

When she is not visiting with pooches and felines, Ann enjoys exploring the natural areas of East Tennessee, and tries to go hiking once a week with her husband.  They are always on the lookout for new trails to try out.  She also teaches a weekly exercise course at the YMCA, and enjoys staying active in her church and FCA.

Kristin (Oak Ridge, Solway, West Knox)

Kristen shares her life in West Knox with her husband, two year old daughter Anna, a new baby girl Emma, and a couple of pets.  Her Pomperian, Lily, was a wedding present from her husband!  Lily has been with Kristen for 4 years now, and she just “loves her to death.”  They enjoy going on walks together every day. Kristen’s Blue Russian cat, Archemedies (Archy for short) is just like a dog, and thinks he is one!  Archy is always loving on strangers and sleeping in a bed with the covers on him.

Kristin is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in Business, and then plans to attend UT’s Veterinary School.  She has big plans for her future as a veterinarian and kennel owner!  Right now, when she is not playing with pets, she enjoys having fun with her daughter and taking photographs.

Teresa (Powell)

Teresa moved to Knoxville in 1998, after growing up in the Atlanta area.  Knowing no one in the area, she decided to work a second job at a gym in order to meet people.  On one of her first dates she opened the door wearing a baby iguana on each shoulder and one on top of her head!   She knew it was the real deal when he called her back!  Teresa married him in 2002 and they have had several iguanas since.

One of her proudest accomplishments was caring for a seriously crippled iguana that no one expected to live and she lived for 18 years!  Since then, Teresa has been “adopted” by her own furry babies, Ripley her Border Collie, and Duke, her Lab mix.   In 2008, she added three more to her family by adopting three sisters (the two legged kind!) from foster care.  Now Teresa and her family have a very busy home that resembles a train station and they couldn’t be happier.  Her kids love that she takes care of other peoples’ pets for them and they call her ” a Pet-fessional”!
