Summer is a native of East Tennessee, growing up on 5 acres in Kingston on the lake.  She started her career in dog walking early in life by taking the free roaming neighborhood dogs on walks through the woods.  Sometimes she had a pack of up to 10 pooches with her!  After getting her undergrad in Elementary Education from Catawba College in North Carolina, Summer moved back to Tennessee to pursue her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee.  While working at a local elementary school she met her future husband Brett, with whom she now shares her life.

Other than pet sitting and dog walking for Waggy Tails, Summer enjoys taking her own dogs to the park, hiking, gardening, going to movies, wake boarding, trying out new restaurants, watching football (go Vols!), traveling in foreign cultures, and cooking.  When she can get a free weekend in the fall you will find her at all of the home UT football games (she has been going to them since she was 6 years old!), and during the summer she will be on the lake wake boarding and enjoying the sunshine.

Summer and Brett share their lives with 3 fun-loving dogs that were all rescues.  Sierra was Summer’s first dog, and is a lab/hound mix that Summer found at a local animal shelter when Sierra was 6 months old.  Sierra’s favorite pastimes are being with Summer every minute of the day, making sure no crumbs are ever on the floor, smelling everyone’s breath, and protecting the house.  About a year after Sierra joined the family, Summer decided it was time to add a new addition, so she adopted Coda, a collie mix, from a local rescue organization.  Coda had been through a lot already, having beat parvo as a pup, and being returned by a family who didn’t know how to deal with his puppy behavior.  Now Coda is Summer’s “sweet teddy bear” who loves to cuddle, chew on anything available, show off his ball catching skills, and try to sneak licks of her ice cream.  Next came Chloe, a mix that no one is sure exactly what she is, other than she is fast!  They think she must have some greyhound and vizsla in her.  Chloe is Summer’s speed demon who enjoys catching Frisbees, looking for rodents in the woods, chasing squirrels (she has caught 3!), and then acting dead to the world when she collapses on her bed inside.
